The 2008 Texas Alliance for CME Outstanding Achievement Award goes to Gayla Bruner!

Gayla has exemplified outstanding achievement in CME in many ways. As CME Director for Memorial Hermann Hospital System in Houston, she was instrumental in establishing the system CME accreditation for Memorial Hermann and is committed to providing excellent guidance and top notch CME. Gayla always has a positive attitude and is eager to try innovative ways of providing CME. She was instrumental is obtaining iTunes downloadable CME events for the physicians at Memorial Hermann.

Gayla has been an active member of TACME for quite some time, and served as a Board Member from 2002 – 2007. She began as Treasurer of the Board, and then became President-Elect and served as President from 2004-2006. Since leaving the TACME Board, Gayla has continued to demonstrate her dedication to the CME profession by serving in various CME leadership roles. She served as a member and is currently Chair of the Alliance for CME’s State and Regional Organizations Committee (SRO). SROs provide a professional development opportunity for individuals who may not have the resources to become members of the Alliance or participate in its programs. This committee includes representatives from across the United States and Canada, and provides an important vehicle for sharing and collaboration.

Gayla’s commitment to excellence is also demonstrated in her role as a member of TMA’s Subcommittee on Accreditation, which administers TMA’s intrastate accreditation program. In this role, Gayla participates in conducting site surveys for TMA-accredited providers.

Gayla continually exhibits her collegial spirit by serving as a mentor for newcomers to CME both at the state and national level. She is a role model and a leader in CME, and we are proud to present her with the 2008 TACME Outstanding Achievement Award.
