Jann
Harrison, RN,
MSN, CCMEP receives TACME’s 2010 Outstanding Achievement Award
Congratulations
to Jann Harrison, Director of Medical Education for Christus Santa Rosa Health
Care System in San Antonio, Texas for receiving the 2010 Outstanding Achievement
Award from the Texas Alliance for Continuing Medical Education. The award was
presented to Ms. Harrison at the opening ceremonies of the Texas CME Conference
in Austin, on June 22, 2010.
Jann Harrison has been in the health care field her entire career, starting out
as a Pediatric Nurse. She has been involved in nursing and physician education
for over 15 years and created the CME Program at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health
System. Last year, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System was the first program to be
awarded Accreditation with Commendation in Texas after implementation of the
2006 ACCME criteria.
Jann’s contributions to the profession of CME extend far beyond her own
institution. She was a member of the TACME Board from 2001-2008, starting out as
a Member-At-Large, then serving as Treasurer and also President. She wrote
articles, designed and edited the TACME newsletter, served as a planner for the
annual conference, and created the job descriptions for the TACME Board. Jann is
currently serving on the State and Regional Organization Committee for the
Alliance for CME.
Colleagues applauded her willingness to share her best practices, examples, and
“out of the box ideas” with them as they were preparing their self studies or
asking the advice from a mentor. When the CCMEP examination for certification of
CME professionals was developed, Jann was in the first group of 70 people in the
US to take the exam and receive that certification.
The TACME Board is pleased to recognize Ms. Harrison as she demonstrates the
performance and commitment to excellence for which this award was designed.
